MJJ MacKeown
1891 - 1951
Michael John Joseph MacKeown was born in Newry in 1891. He received his BA degree from UCD and spent over 40 years working in the civil service, most notably as the Inspector of Taxes in Dublin Castle. He was called to the Bar in 1938 and was one of the first directors of the Authors' Guild of Ireland, which was set up to protect authors from copyright infringement, along with Lennox Robinson, T.C. Murray, Thomas King Moylan and M.M. Brennan.
