Earnán de Blaghd
1889 - 1975
Born Ernest Blythe to a Unionist family in County Antrim, De Blaghd joined the IRB and the Gaelic League at a young age. He was imprisoned as a result of his involvement with the 1916 Rising and was later appointed Minister for Finance in Cosgrave's first administration. A dedicated Irish-language enthusiast, he served as Managing Director of the Abbey Theatre from 1941 to 1967.
