The Living-room of Mrs. Hayden's Boarding House in Dublin.
Mrs. Hayden is an awful harridan who treats her pretty step-daughter Kitty as an unpaid servant. Gerald O'Grady comes to stay at the boarding house and is appalled at the treatment meted out to Kitty. He's skint and as a last throw of the dice, he buys two hospital sweep-stake tickets and makes a present of one of them to Kitty. Guess what happens next in this comedy-romance!
