Interior of a country house in Carrig.
A play written in Lady Gregory's 'Kiltartenese' dialect, concerning a feud between two rival families. Before the play opens, Bat Lonergan has seized the Lakelands farm of the Morris's, as a result of which his son is murdered and buried secretly by Tom Morris in retaliation. Tom arranges a marriage between his son, Jim and Bat's daughter Molly, as a way of regaining the lost farm, but buried secrets are never buried forever.
