Description
Living Space Theatre, (formerly READCO), is the artistic partnership of director Tara Derrington and writer/performer Michelle Read. Through new theatre, our aim is to explore the interactive relationship between audience, performer and space and to focus on the intrinsic elements of live performance.
The company was originally set up by Michelle Read in 1996 to produce her own writing. In partnership with Tara Derrington, this brief has expanded to include devised and improvised work, as well as new writing by Read and other playwrights.
All Living Space work to date is newly created and contemporary and has included interactive, experimental, autobiographical and site-specific productions. The company is particularly interested in playing with narrative structure and the way audience directly experiences the performance, in terms of things like space, proximity to actors and access to information.
Whenever possible we engage with other practitioners through commission, collaboration and/or developmental workshops, in order to develop the structural, narrative and technical ideas for our productions.
Living Space Theatre has ceased trading.
