Description
The Independent Dramatic Company was re-named The Independent Theatre Company in 1911. Founded by Casimir Markievicz as chief playwright and Constance Markievicz as the main actor. In 1913 many of its members, including the Markieviczs, Helena Maloney and Una O'Connor, joined Flora MacDonnell and Evelyn Ashley to form the Dublin Repertory Company (1913-1914) which staged plays at the Gaiety Theatre icluding Shaw's John Bull's Other Island and Mrs Warren's Profession.
