Description
Barabbas believed the imagination was a powerful source of growth. The sensibility of theatre of clown permeated all the company's work. Barabbas' mission was to forge its own unique performance style which married both visual and literary theatre drawing from complementary disciplines including puppetry, object manipulation, physical theatre and mime. Barabbas placed its audience at centre stage, believing that the clown exists in direct dialogue with that audience. Barabbas believed that theatre acted as a potent mirror to society. Since its inception in 1993, Barabbas had presented at festivals including New Zealand International Arts Festival, Next Wave Festival at BAM [Brooklyn Academy of Music], Expo 2000 in Hannover Germany, Aurora Nove at Edinburgh Festival Fringe, and at venues throughout Ireland, England, Wales, the US, Denmark and France.
